Under 15 Boys (5) vs Souths United (2)

This was the 1st time we met Souths United as our Home Game had been washed out and is yet to be rescheduled.  We went to the game not knowing what to expect, as they were sitting 3rd on the ladder. Our boys were warming up on the field with Craig and we kept a close eye on the opposition.  We saw they had ALL 16 players turn up ready to challenge the top team.  We had a few of our players unable to play due to injury or illnesses, and were left with only one sub for the game.  We knew we had to make the best of every opportunity we had. The game started slow, both teams had some missed opportunities but The Lakes scored first in the 31st minute and scored again quickly. Fraser had the sun in his eyes for the first half but he managed to save some great opportunities and we went into half time leading 2 - Nil.

The boys all worked very hard in the first half, so along with fruit and water, a sugar fix was needed by some. Our boys headed back onto the field for the second half surprisingly much fitter than the opposition, thanks to the rigorous training sessions from Craig. However, our only sub little Alex copped a hard hit in the back and stomp on the foot, so ice was much needed to save him for another substitution. Our speed was so superior Craig yelled out to Tanzey to pull back a metre or so to remain on-side.

Despite heaps of subs from the opposition, The Lakes continued to dig deep and extend their lead right to the final whistle of 5 to 2. Speed, stamina and unity combined to gain the upper hand on the day on this away field. The Lakes remain undefeated throughout the season!
